Decoding the Scoreboard
Take a look at the above scoreboard from a recent Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Hornets basketball game. Can you tell what all those numbers mean? Any guesses? Let me break it down:
The Warriors scored 126 points and the Hornets scored 92. Warriors win!!!
The 4 in between the two scores means it is the fourth quarter of the game. Basketball has four quarters in each game.
The Warriors as a team has 5 fouls on the Hornets. The Hornets only committed 4 on the Warriors.
Now take a look at the word Bonus in red on the Hornets side of the scoreboard. If you were watching this game, you might hear someone say "the Hornets are in the bonus." Once the team is in the bonus, they get to shoot free throws for every foul committed the players. It takes five fouls per half for a team to get into the bonus. So, the Warriors committed five fouls combined in the third and fourth quarters, the Hornets get into the bonus, and get to shoot free throws from then on when fouled. Basketball scoreboards seem complex. But its kind of like a guy trying to understand women's clothing or shoe sizes.
Next lets talk about time outs. The yellow 2 on the Warriors side means they have two 30 second time outs left. The Hornets have one. The white 1 next to the Time Outs means Warriors and Hornets both have one longer 60 second time outs.
I hope this helps! Next time you're watching, keep an eye on the number of fouls. You want the team you're rooting for to get into the bonus so they can shoot more free throws and score more points. When the opposing team has 4 fouls, you can say "the Warriors are almost in the bonus!"

Got A Spare $400 million???
...then you can buy the Golden State Warriors!
My poor struggling hometown team is up for sale which is actually good news. The current owner, Chris Cohan hasn't been doing the best job. Players *ahem Stephen Jackson* have left the team because of poor management. There have been rumors of star player Monta Ellis also being unsatisfied. Since the team plays in the Oracle Arena, the most probably buyer is looking to be Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. Or it could be you, if you have an extra $400 million laying around and think you can re-energize the franchise.

This always makes me smile
For someone who loves the Warriors and is heartbroken about their losing record, I love to watch this clip of Ronny Turiaf shutting down superstar Kobe Bryant. It makes me remember why I still watch and go to Warriors games- they are entertaining to watch!

March Madness 2010
March Madness is in full swing right now. The NCAA is the college basketball league and March Madness is the championship tournament to determine who the best college team is.
Did your significant other recently fill out a bracket? The bracket is used to pick which teams you think are going to win the games and ultimately make it to the championship game. Here is President Obama filling out his bracket:
Everyone in the Bay Area is surprised how far St. Mary's College has gotten. They upset the #2 ranked Villanova! Go St. Marys!!!!

This is the best Kimmel could come up with?
I hope you have seen The Handsome Men's Club skit from Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Most of the hotties are actors. And there are a few singers. But the only athlete was Tony Romo! That was the hottest athlete Kimmel could think of? Here are some of my nominations for the Handsome Men's Club:
LaDainian Tomlinson
David Beckham
Cristiano Ronaldo
Barry Zito
Tom Brady

Welcome Back NHL
Not that Olympic Hockey wasn't exciting. I mean, USA tied it up in the last 24 seconds of the gold medal game! I felt conflicted watching the USA- Canada game. I wanted my country to do well. But it was just so unnatural to be rooting against a team that has four of my beloved San Jose Sharks on it.
Patrick Marleau, Dany Heatley, Jumbo Joe Thornton, and Dan Boyle all returned this morning to San Jose with gold medals. American Joe Pavelski returned with a silver. Sharks hockey is back tonight! The Sharks will be taking on the New Jersey Devils at the Shark Tank.
This past month with no NHL has also been hard because there have been no new episodes of my favorite show The Office. NBC has been broadcasting the Olympics and I have been left watching reruns. Pam and Jim's baby is coming this Thursday! Are you excited for the Olympics to be over?
