Father- Son time
Awwwwww! I'm such a sucker for cute families. Stephen Curry and his dad Dell Curry were both working at last nights Warriors vs. Bobcats game. Obviously Steph was playing for the Dubs, but his dad is the commentator for the Bobcats. Dell must have been secretly rooting for his stellar rookie son even though he was working for the Bobcats. Family affair!
Holy Beard!
WOW....... this beard belongs to Clint Session on the Colts. Doesn't that thing get itchy and annoying under your helmet when you're playing? Sweaty, smelly, sticky... gross. Lets hope it is a good luck charm or something. I've heard of players growing "playoff beards" (they don't shave as long as their team remains in the playoffs) and I'm hoping that's what this facial mess is. He seriously cannot look in the mirror and think it's attractive.
I am not a fan of beards on men. If us ladies have to shave our legs, then you guys out there better manage those tangley whisker gardens. My boyfriend likes to have hair on his chin. I think it gets in the way. One time I "accidentally" changed his beard trimmer settings and when he went to trim it up, it magically took off all the hair so he had to shave the whole thing off.
Come on! I can't be the only girl out there who's done that right?

Boo This Man!!!
Ex- Warrior Stephen Jackson returns to Oakland tonight to play against his former teammates. He is a good player but has one really bad attitude. Like worse than Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift bad.
Jackson resigned a 3 year, $28 million contract with the Warriors at the beginning of this season. Too bad only 9 games in he was traded after some traitorous words . He was going around in all these press conferences saying how he wants to leave the Warriors, how he wants to be on a winning team, and how the Warriors management promised to get some new talented players but didn't deliver. Ok that last one is a legit concern. I have some problems with some certain incompetent Dubs management moves in the past 5 years. And a winning team? The Bobcats are 22-22, so they actually don't a winning record. I know that's a better record than the Warriors (they're 13 l-29w) but its still not a winning record. Being so publicly rude makes me dislike this guy.
And he better watch it because he is getting up there in age for an NBA player. I feel like a lot of these pots have been about aging players....
Punk.
"Lets drink to my awesomeness!"
Goodbye Kurt
If your going to be watching ESPN news tonight with your boyfriend like I know I will be, the latest news is that today, 38 year old quarterback Kurt Warner announced his retirement after 12 years in the NFL. Warner played for the Arizona Cardinals ('05-'10), New York Giants ('04), and the St. Louis Rams ('98-03). In 1999, he won the Superbowl and was Superbowl MVP with the Rams. Warner was also named NFL MVP twice, NFL Man of the Year in '08, was selected five times for the Pro Bowl, and holds countless records. Warner, a devoted Christian, also has seven children so I totally understand why he wanted to retire and spend more time with him. That and he is getting up there in age...
Warner is Hall of Fame material. Even though he had some inconsistent years, Kurt Warner is a great football player and should be inducted along side such greats as Troy Aikman, Steve Young, John Elway, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Joe Namath, and Mike Singletary.

The Rebound
...and I'm not talking about that guy you woke up next to the day after you got dumped. Rebounding is a major part of basketball. People at games are always yelling "get the board" which I found out means get the rebound. So the board is the backboard of the basketball hoop. Here is one of my typical girl mistakes at a recent Golden State Warriors game. I started yelling about getting the board every time my team took a shot. Getting the defensive board should happen every time and if it not its not something to yell about. But getting the offensive rebound is not necessary each time. When the Warriors shoot, it is more important for them to get back on defense than it is for the players to get the offensive rebound. They need to run their expensive bodies back to defense! But, if the other team is shooting and the Warriors do not get the defensive rebound, the other team could have a second chance at scoring. I learned to only yell about rebounding and "the board" when the Warriors are on defense.

Sorry Favre...
Yesterday, the Minnesota Vikings blew it against the New Orleans Saints. I was all for the Saints so I care about this drama about as much as I care about this. Looks like its back to Sears for Favre:
Superbowl XLIV (or 44 for the non Roman numeral crowd) will be the Saints vs. the Colts.

Warriors with 8 Players!
Monta Ellis is injured and the Golden State Warriors only have 8 players in uniform. In basketball you have 5 players on the court at a time The Dubs have only three subs. Some players will be in for a long period of time and probably not get a rest. Corey Maggette, Stephen Curry, Anthony Tolliver, Andris Biedrins, Cartier Martin, CJ Watson, Ronny Turiaf, and Devean George are playing tonight against the Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash....
I just love this video of Baron Davis and Steve Nash dancing:
GO WARRIORS!!!!

PLAYoffs!
I'm so excited for the games on Sunday. I feel like they opened up a Neiman Marcus (complete with Cafe and strawberry butter) in San Jose! That would be so marvelous. I thought someone said one was going in at Santana Row....? *Keep Dreaming*
Football playoffs are here which means the best teams are fighting for the Super Bowl AND the season is almost over. So football fan or not, playoff season is exciting.
We have:
New York Jets us. Indianapolis Colts
New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Jets have sometimes cutie Mark Sanchez as their quarterback
The Colts have Peyton Manning who has a sometimes funny sense of humor.....
My bet is on the Colts. Why? Because that Peyton Manning clip was pretty funny.
And by the way folks I don't ever bet money on sports. I spend my money on handbags.
The Saints have Reggie Bush who has been Kim Kardashian for a few years and I LOVE this couple.
and the Vikings have Brett Favre... see below post.
I'm hoping the Saints win because New Orleans has had a really traumatic disaster and it would be their first Super Bowl in franchise history. Go SAINTS!!!

Looking Good Favre
Brett Favre has been playing football since 1991. He played for the Green Bay Packers for a significant chunk of time. I wonder what he did for fun in Green Bay is he wasn't playing football. Anyhoo he is like 40 years old and looks it. His body has been taking hits for a long time and its amazing how quick he can recover. Actually, it seems too good to be true and since athletes keep coming out with drama I'm sure we'll know the truth sooner or later. I mean am I the only one who thinks its kind of odd.... and stop retiring and coming back. That is so played out. Anyone who needs some denim, hit up Favre for some Wranglers:

Jessica Simpson's Ex Played Today
Well I didn't get a chance to watch any of the NFL playoff games this weekend, but *fake it till you make it ladies.* Here is a little tip about the Dallas Cowboys, who lost to the Vikings today. Tony Romo is the Dallas quarterback and he loves blonds. First, he dated country darling Carrie Underwood, a blond country singer. Then he dated J Simps, also a blond and a pop singer who last year released her own country album. During that season, he played horrible when Jess would show up to his games. She was a curse to Dallas fans and many NFL fans teased Romo by showing up to games with this mask:
If some guy was talking about the Cowboys losing in the playoffs today, I would say "At least he played better than when he was with Jessica Simpson." This would let the guy know that you have watched not only today's game but games in the past seasons.
I love celeb gossip and try to mix it in with sports as often as I can. Part girly girl, part tomboy!

Sharks Lose
I turned on the San Jose Sharks vs. Boston Bruins late with only 3 minutes left in overtime (or OT).
The score at the end of the game was tied 1-1. Some of my fav players are Evgeni Nabakov the goalie , Devon Setogichi, Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Douglas Murray, Torrey Mitchell, Dan Boyle, Dany Heatley, Joe Pavelski, and Ryan Clowe... and yeah pretty much all the rest. Todd McClellan is the Sharks coach.
The game was still tied at the end of OT, so the game went into a shoot out. A shoot out is pretty fun to watch because its just one guy on the ice taking one shot at the other teams goalie. Each team picks three players to shoot. If no one scores, they just keep sending players on the ice until someone gets the puck into the net. The Sharks ended up losing because someone scored on Nabokov. Hockey is one of my fav sports to watch and I gotta love anything from San Jose!
*I took this pic in the fall of 2007 at s Sharks game*
No, Not Russell Simmons
I'm talking about Bill Simmons (above), not the Def Jam mogul Russell Simmons. He writes for ESPN and is my uncle's favorite which is how I came up with the name of this blog. A lot of guys I know read his Sports Guys World page daily. Wouldn't that be awesome if each one of those guys' girlfriends read Simmons In Heels daily? Then they could have something to talk about!
Welcome To Simmons In Heels!
Has your boyfriend ever canceled date night because he wants to watch something called MNF? Who are your coworkers talking about when they say "The Dubs have so many injuries"? Would you rather clean up the entire Thanksgiving dinner alone than have to sit with your dad and uncle and watch football? Welcome to Simmons In Heels! A place where women can learn about the world of sports. You'd be surprised how my own growing knowledge of sports has helped my personal and professions lives. No, MNF does not stand for Men Needing Freedom. It stands for Monday Night Football. Dub stands for W, and in this case the Warriors. Many women don't watch sports with men because they don't understand whats going on and don't want to ask because it seems like such common knowledge to those with a Y chromosome. This is a place to find out about sports scores, teams, and other news that just might give you a leg up on all the other females out there. Guys love it when a girl knows something about sports. Just make sure you know what you're talking about and he will be blown away!
